While most of us are spending the first day of 2017 regretting the last night of 2016, Boca Raton yogis will be taking part in Something Big—the third annual New Year’s Day yoga mega-class hosted by Yoga Journey founder Leslie Glickman with live music by DJ Drez.

Set your New Year intention at South Florida’s largest outdoor yoga class, supported by the community. Leslie Glickman’s third annual Something Big event will feature a one-hour vinyasa class set to live music by DJ Drez. “This year I wanted to step it up to elevate the event,” Glickman says. “DJ Drez performs at many of the big festivals and yoga events [and] I play his music in class all the time and knew it would be so cool to have him there in person.”

Glickman, whose intention is to spread the message of community to as many people as possible, hosts free weekly community classes in downtown Boca Raton year-round. “My husband came up with the idea of renting the amphitheater for an even bigger event,” she said. “At first I thought he was crazy but he believed in me and my vision of uniting the yoga community.”

They had 1,500 attendees for the 2016 event and are expecting around 2,000 this year. “My husband and I are so grateful for the loyalty and dedication of our team of volunteers,” she says. “We will have about 30 yoga teachers there to manage mat placement and then be dispersed throughout the crowd to assist and keep everyone safe.”

Shop the marketplace of local vendors and businesses, such as Trend Tea and Vibration Apparel, before or after class. The event is free and appropriate for all levels and ages. “Just come out with an open mind and be willing to breathe,” Glickman says.
