HYROX – a premium functional fitness competition designed for Everybody, not just elite athletes – is coming to Miami, October 19th, during the FIBO Fitness Festival at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

HYROX is inspired by a simple idea – millions of athletes all over the world who don’t play sports but prefer functional fitness or working out at the gym, don’t have a measurable competition.

Here are five things you need to know about the HYROX fitness competition coming to Miami.

The Competition is Designed for Every Body

Yes, you don’t have to be the next Rich Froning to compete. Think of HYROX like the Miami Marathon – there will be those battling it out upfront for first place, but everyone is out there competing, even if it’s just against themselves.

The Workout is Definitely Manageable

Ok, so at this point, we are sure your dying to know exactly what the workout is like before you sign up. Well, it’s actually not a secret. Here is the “for time” work out you’ll be doing on competition day:

  • 1km Run
    • 1000m Skirg
  • 1km Run
    • 2x25m Sled Push 
  • 1km Run
    • 2x25m Sled Pull
  • 1 km Run
    • 80m Burpee Broad Jump
  • 1km Run
    • 1000m Row
  • 1km Run
    • 200m Farmer’s Carry
  • 1km Run
    • 100m Sandbag Lunges
  • 1km Run
    • 75x (HYROX Women) /100x Wall Balls (all others)

*workouts vary in weight for individual divisions.

Miami is a Qualifier for the 2020 World Championships

That’s right – if you do well enough at the Miami event, you can directly qualify for the World Championships on April 4, 2020, in Berlin, Germany, in your age group. The 2019/2020 North American HYROX Series schedule is as follows:

  • October 19, 2019 – Miami
  • December 15, 2019 – New York City                
  • January 25, 2020 – Chicago                                 
  • February 29, 2020 – Houston
  • March 28, 2020 – Los Angeles    

There is Prize Money at Stake

The 2018/2019 Female Pro and Male Pro World Champions Imke Salandar and Lukas Storath, will be competing alongside 3,000 others in Miami, taking on all contenders and competing for the Pro Division prize money:

  • $2,500 – 1st Place
  • $1,500 – 2nd Place
  • $1,000 – 3rd Place
