In 2007, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) launched the ACSM American Fitness Index (AFI) with the intention to help communities across the U.S boost the health of residents in order to expand and support healthy lifestyles.

Within the yearly reports of the AFI the economic and demographic diversity of each community, level of chronic disease condition, health measures, and community resources that support physical activities and other aspects are evaluated.

For the 2017 AFI Report, our very own magic city, Miami, was ranked the #23 fittest city out of the 50 largest metropolitan areas in the United States. It evaluated the areas pertaining to Miami-Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.

People in Miami are taking into consideration what they consume on a daily basis. There is more vegetable and fruit consumption. Health is becoming a topic of depth at schools, fitness facilities and events are having a drastic expansion around the city.
