MTE Founder Jeff Boyd posing with his MTE shot product in Miami

MTE is a New Way to Think About Energy and Wellbeing

It's hard to be your best when you don't feel your best. Powered by adaptogens, nootropics, and superfoods, MTE is bridging the gap between energy drinks and supplements to be your daily superpower and help you achieve your potential.

Conceived here in Miami, MTE stands for More Than Energy and was created as a next-generation wellness shot to support body balance and overall wellbeing in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle. The 2 oz liquid shot contains ingredients like ashwagandha, spirulina, holy basil, theacrine, and saffron to promote better energy and support stress resilience, calm focus, immunity, mood, and even better sleep at night.

“Two years ago, I embarked on a journey to make something I felt the world was missing - a healthy boost to energy without decreasing any of the other aspects of wellbeing and feeling good like a calm mood or quality sleep at night,” said Jeff Boyd, Founder of MTE.

“That meant no caffeine bombs, no sugar bombs, and no crappy ingredients. I wanted something wholesome. I wanted something I could share with my friends. And I wanted it to work with my existing healthy lifestyle, not against it.”

Not only does the MTE shot provide a rapid energy kick and boost to focus but there are subsequent benefits to mood and recovery that really set it apart. This holistic approach is a departure from alternatives acting as a bandage for tiredness by supplementing B vitamins, excessive caffeine, or other stimulants, while leaving a wake of jitters and insomnia.

“We are not an energy drink with a healthy ingredient or two added for mitigating effect,” said Boyd.“That’s been done and it doesn’t work. We are a wellness drink that happens to support energy, because it is an important component of overall wellness, but so is stress response, so is a calm mood, so is quality of sleep at night.”

It’s also why MTE works best with those who value overall health, wellbeing, and performance more than just a quick fix. The longer you use MTE, the more the adaptogens and nootropics will be able to reach their full effect. In helping your body naturally align itself, it will help make the habits stick, the sleep go smoother, and the days improve while you put in the work in the gym and at the office.

People doing an EMS class at We202 in Aventura in South Florida

We202 Opens Its Second Wireless EMS Location in Aventura's Town Center

We202 EMS is now open in Aventura, the studio's second location in South Florida. Their wireless electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) classes offer a high-end fitness concept perfect for anyone looking to get in shape, rehabilitate from an injury, or improve overall health without having to compromise their busy schedule. Learn all about We202 below!

The experience:

With We202, traditional workouts are a thing of the past. We202’s wireless EMS technology differs from other EMS fitness concepts in that it’s completely wireless, allowing users to have full freedom of movement during their workout. Each client is given a wireless EMS powersuit that is meant to fit like a second skin and is the real star of the workout. Your powersuit includes 20 pads that sit on top of 20 large muscles. These pads have very low voltage electrodes, that when activated by the trainer transmit EMS impulses to the muscles causing them to contract involuntarily.

"Our workout classes provide customers with something that is completely unique," said Dr. Juan Castillo, Medical Director of We202. "Our wireless powersuits give you complete freedom of movement, allowing you to workout in small groups of up to 8 people and be part of our WE community. The benefits of adding EMS to your workouts are substantial. Our clients not only achieve physical body changes in significantly less time than traditional training, but also experience a vast number of health and wellness improvements that are life changing.  Our technology driven workouts allow you to achieve a full body workout in just 20 minutes in each class."

A concept that began in Europe and is now used by pro-athletes around the world, EMS simultaneously activates 95% of all muscle fibers in the body, bypassing the brain and sending involuntary impulses that cause the muscles to contract and relax safely.

We202’s concept allows you to work smarter, not harder, but providing all the benefits of conventional exercise and more, without having to spend hours at the gym. The workout takes just 20 minutes, 2 times per week, hence the name We202. Trainers take members through a 30 minute class, which includes a 5 minute warm up, 20 minute workout and 5 minute cooldown. Each person's EMS frequency and intensity is customized to their goals and fitness level.

What makes We202 unique:

“In a world where technology is so prevalent in making our lives easier, why not use this technology to improve our overall fitness needs," said Elizabeth Castillo. “Our goal is to provide a way to enhance one’s quality of life in this fast-paced moving world where people don't spend enough time on their own personal wellness. People are sacrificing their own wellness at the expense of their busy schedules and it’s time for that to change."

What do members say?

Members love receiving all the benefits of an intense workout in just 30 minutes.  Each 30 minute class gives you results comparable to 2-3 hours of conventional training and you can start to see results within 3 to 4 training sessions. Not only do members experience changes in their body's appearance, but they also experience significant improvements in their overall health including decreased body aches and pain, improved circulation and flexibility, greater balance and coordination, and an increased ability to perform everyday tasks.

You should also know:

At We202 each class is personalized and intimate. The frequency and intensity of each person’s impulses are based on their training level and are controlled by a certified EMS trainer. This makes We202 a great option for people of all ages and fitness levels. With We202’s state-of-the-art fitness software program, trainers can execute personalized training content for up to 10 different trainees at once.

Their facilities provide showers, lockers, and changing areas. There is ample and easy parking. Additionally, We202 offers medical wellness services including IV nutrition, weight loss/control, bio-identical hormones, peptide therapy, and nutraceuticals.

How to join in:

We202 offers drop-in classes, class packages, and monthly memberships. Monthly memberships include either 5 or 9 EMS classes per month. They also offer complimentary trial classes to experience their wireless EMS workout first hand. This allows you to fully understand the concept and all of the benefits that wireless EMS training can bring to your life.

Jgame is Sustainable Tennis Apparel Made from Water Bottles

Tennis apparel made from water bottles?  Meet Jgame, a female-founded, eco-conscious and ethically-made tennis fashion collection that merges style and sustainability. The activewear is created with plastic water bottles upcycled into yarn and will have you court-ready.

Founded by Jackie Meretsky, a former NBC News anchor turned entrepreneur with a passion for tennis, each piece at Jgame is made with high-quality recycled fabrics, is designed with both functionality and comfort in mind. Prioritizing the planet over profits, Jgame is designed, cut and sewn in New York's garment district.

"Tennis has always brought me so much joy. I have laughed, cried, celebrated, and formed some of my most meaningful friendships on the tennis court," said Meretsky. "Through all of life's ups and downs, tennis has always been there as an outlet and source of renewed energy. Everything is always forgotten on the court."

All of the garments are made from fabrics that are 75-100% recycled polyester made from recycled Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) from clear plastic bottles.  They are broken down into small chips that are processed into yarn. This helps decrease greenhouse gas emissions and adverts waste by reducing plastic bottles in landfills among other environmental benefits.

"Not only is Jgame a sustainable brand, we are also an ethical brand that prioritizes inclusivity," said Meretsky. "Tennis requires access and that's why we partnered with First Serve Miami to donate new tennis apparel to their Adopt-A-Players’ Program which gives children who lack financial resources the opportunity to compete locally and nationally with the goal of using their talent and academics to attend college and we are making uniforms for their youth camps."

The collection, which features subtle prints, crisp whites, and bold colors like mecox mint, montauk midnight and vacation violet, includes tops (retail $66), tennis skirts (retail: $85), tennis dresses (retail: $125), and compression shorts (retail: $55).

Meretsky said, "Tennis’ popularity has exploded globally in recent years and sportswear is now a statement of style that must co-exist with functionality.  If sportswear can represent your style, it can also represent your values which is why I create Jgame, a brand dedicated to putting the planet ahead of profits.  Our eco-friendly collections made from recycled fabrics have been a hit since their Wimbledon debut last year on Canadian doubles champion Gabriela “Gaby” Dabrowski."

What's next for Jgame? "We hear you Pickleballers! An exciting new collection is in the works," said Meretsky. "We will also be launching a men's line and the cutest mother/daughter apparel ever!"

ClassPass & Mindbody Reveal Top Fitness & Wellness Trends of 2022

ClassPass analyzed thousands of reservations made on their platform over the past year to create the 2022 ClassPass & Mindbody Look Back Report. Here are some of the trends they found around fitness and wellness.

Fastest growing workouts

Sculpt classes – often a subset of Pilates, yoga and strength training — were the fastest growing workout of 2022 with a 471% increase in bookings from January to October. Acro Yoga also saw growth, with reservations increasing 200% in 2022. So, if you’re looking to improve your flexibility and try your hand at acrobatics, might be a good time to give it a go.

Most popular workouts

Strength training continues to be the most popular workout of 2022 for the second year in a row. Not only did it hold the top spot year-over-year but people also actually attended strength training classes more often in 2022 than 2021 —there was a 94% increase in reservations from 2021 to 2022.

As exercising expands beyond just breaking a sweat, for the first time ever, stretching also made the top 10 fitness reservations list. Whether it’s recovery, preventative, or a low impact way to get your blood flowing, it’s important to incorporate stretching into your routine.

And if you are a newbie, you are most likely to be found on a bike. The most popular first class on ClassPass is a cycling class.

Most popular day to workout

You are most likely to see a packed class on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. — the most popular time and day to workout. Classes that are 60 minutes are most likely to book out, and the 60-minute slot is the most-popular class length.

Most popular month to workout

While it may seem that January is a popular time to get back into a fitness routine, the most popular months to workout were actually August and September. This proved “back to school” season is also “back to the gym” season.

Find a Personalized Fitness Experience at DFit Training Studio in Fort Lauderdale

Motion is medicine at DFit Training in Fort Lauderdale, where the priority is movement, mindfulness, and recovery. Find out how good you could feel at this new studio by Danny Fam!

The experience:

DFit Training Studio was established in 2015 within a 900 square foot personal training studio in Pompano Beach. After being forced to pivot due to COVID-19, Danny Fam designed and developed the new location in Fort Lauderdale from the ground up. Now DFit Training Studio is fueled by state-of-the-art equipment and industry-best fitness instruction in a 2,500 square foot space.

Combining elements of exercise science, movement, mindfulness, technology & recovery, the DFit Studio is innovatively engineered to optimize both physical and mental fitness while enhancing human performance. The DFit Studio features interior elements with a high-contrast palette of bright whites, rich charcoals, elegant raw woods, and natural greens against sleek elements of black porcelain tile and white oak. The Studio has a unique zoning approach that facilitates high and low energy zones, consisting of a dedicated zone for strength and free weights with rubber flooring, turf flooring for functional training, a premium cardio zone, and a glass-enclosed private yoga studio with white oak luxury vinyl tile flooring.

DFit Training Studio soft-opened this fall and plans to host a Grand Opening on Friday, January 13, 2023.

What makes DFit Training Studio unique:

"We offer goal-specific, science-based, structured programming that is completely customized to the individual," said Danny Fam, Owner and Founder. "Through one of the assessments (The Functional Movement Screen), we are able to determine where the imbalances or asymmetries are in one’s movement and uncover where one’s greatest movement opportunities lie. Cookie-cutter programs online also make the assumption that everyone moves functionally, and this is rarely the case in my experience. As a result, fitness programs are built on dysfunction, and this is a sure path to injury."

You should also know:

DFit Training Studio is able to provide a unique, personalized environment. Here you are able to get the quality and attention you would expect of a boutique studio, with a variety of workout options that would rival a larger gym. You can find a balance between personal training, small group personal training, private yoga, massage, recovery, and premium cardio equipment.

Another differentiator is what Fam calls their "strategic location."

"We've opened our studio side-by-side to our strategic partners Liquivida Lounge, a medical spa that offers nutrient and vitamins IV therapy and innovative aesthetics and weight loss solutions," said Fam. "After cross-marketing our business for the last 10 years, we are now able to serve as a 'one stop shop' for everything wellness and fitness. Members are encouraged to get their blood work done by Liquivida where we can then receive vital information from their Doctors and Practitioner's regarding our clients results. We are in a unique position to fine tune our clients programs down to the cellular level, prescribing them with the most individualized programs that enhances not only their fitness, but their recovery and lifestyle."

Why members love it:

Members value the highly-personalized fitness experience driven by a complete suite of innovation through DFit's digital training platform, Mywellness from Technogym. Each member is prescribed with an individualized training program designed around their specific needs and goals that will improve their lifestyle, keeping them active in the gym, at home, and wherever they are. Members also love the upscale vibe of the studio, making fitness feel like luxury.

The extras:

Amenities include restrooms, showers, full-sized lockers, retail and apparel, front and rear parking, private glass enclosed yoga studio, recovery room, filtered water fountains, espresso, and snack bar.

How to join in:

Their monthly subscription model or "Prescription Based Training" membership includes training as well as open gym access for members to use on their non-training days. Training options vary from private 1-on-1, semi-private (2 people), or small group training (4 members). Members can chose to train one, two, or three times per week and are billed month-to-month in advance with no contract or initiation fees. Their training package model includes training without open gym access. Packages can be purchased as 5-pack, 10-pack, or 20-pack at discounted rates.

"Watching our community come together for such a great cause touches our hearts, and we look forward to seeing what we can achieve at our 6th annual #HourPushUpChallenge!”

Prior to the challenge, each of the participants will collect monetary pledges, donated on a per push-up basis.  Supporters of the event also may offer flat-fee donations via the website. 100% of the funds raised per push-up will be donated to the Udonis Haslem Foundation and Make-A-Wish Southern Florida to help enrich lives of people in local underserved communities and grant wishes to local wish kids.

To date, the #HourPushUpChallenge has raised more than $568,000 and granted over 110 wishes for kids. Last year marked the first #HourPushUpChallenge where Udonis Haslem Foundation joined forces with Anatomy and Make-A-Wish Southern Florida for this event, helping to raise an excess of $215,000. This year, Udonis Haslem, Anatomy, and Make-A-Wish Southern Florida have set a benchmark of $300,000 as their minimum goal to raise to help impact the children and our community.

“I'm very excited for year 2 of the #HourPushUpChallenge," said Haslem, 3x NBA Champion and Miami Heat Captain. "We had a great time last year giving back to the community. A lot of people came together for a cause that they believed in, and we were able to make great things happen. We hope this year we raise over our goal of $350k and go even bigger!"

Haslem has created TEAM UD, which will be led by 5 people. That group will raise money and do push-ups together in hopes to complete 2,000 push-ups in an hour with the goal of each push up being worth a minimum of $30 per push up.

“We thank the generous folks at Anatomy fitness, Udonis Haslem, and everyone who participates in the #HourPushUpChallenge," said Norm Wedderburn, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Southern Florida. "The event has become one of our favorite events of the year and helps impact the lives of those in our community. The determination and hard work of all of the participants and organizers means that many more children will get to experience a wish come true.”

Anatomy’s 2022 #HourPushUpChallenge will take place at Anatomy Coconut Grove located at 3363 Pan American Drive in Miami. To donate or participate visit PushupChallenge.AnatomyFitness.com.

On Sunday, December 18, Anatomy will host their 6th annual #HourPushUp Challenge raising funds for Udonis Haslem Foundation and Make-A-Wish Southern Florida. This challenge invites members and guests to work out for wishes and the future of the Miami community, calling upon participants to do as many pushups as they physically can in a one-hour timeframe.

'Jersey for Miami' Curates Collection of Signed Miami Pro Sports Jerseys to Raise Funds for Give Miami Day

In a one-of-a-kind philanthropic initiative, players from the Miami Heat, Dolphins, Marlins, Inter Miami, and Florida Panthers have teamed up to support Greater Miami nonprofits. Athletes from the five major professional sports teams in South Florida donated signed jerseys to the “Jersey for Miami” campaign. This effort rallies donors to support more than 1,000 local nonprofit organizations.

“Our professional athletes will help us win with ‘Jersey for Miami!’ The Miami Foundation is so grateful to the Heat, Dolphins, Marlins, Inter Miami and the Panthers for their incredible support said Rebecca Fishman Lipsey, president and CEO of The Miami Foundation. “This jersey campaign is an outgrowth of our community’s love for all sports and to rally together. When we connect through this campaign, we’ll create a new team of Floridians passionate to build and strengthen the social and economic fortitude of Greater Miami.”

Participating professional players include Gabe Vincent, Miami Heat; JJ Bleday, Miami Marlins; Robert Taylor, Gregore de Magalhaes Silva, and Leonardo Campana, Inter Miami; Jaelan Phillips, Dophins; and Aleksander Barkov and Sam Reinhart, Florida Panthers.

Funds raised through “Jersey for Miami” will boost the overall dollar amount available to nonprofits that participate in Give Miami Day, on Thursday, November 17, one of the nation’s biggest 24-hour giving events. Last year, Give Miami Day 2021 made history as more than 38,000 donors generously gave over $32 million to champion causes that improve local quality of life and equity.

The contest is simple: now through Friday, November 11, the pros root on the public to be champions and recruit donors to raise money through nine nonprofit categories - animal welfare, arts and culture, economic development, education and youth, environment, equity, faith-based services, health and wellness, and inclusion and community care. The top three fundraisers win a set of five signed jerseys, cash prizes up to $5,000, plus a Give Miami Day gift card to be used on that day so they can further support nonprofits.

This campaign grows the dollars available to nonprofits in advance of Give Miami Day into an extra score for our Bonus Pool that will profit all participating organizations. The Miami Foundation will distribute these extra dollars to nonprofits throughout the event, giving them access to more cash than just what is donated on Give Miami Day.

Details and registration are located at JerseyForMiami.org. Winners will be announced on Give Miami Day.

Human Transformation Program 54D to Open New Studio in New York City this Fall

Fitness brand 54D will open its first studio in New York City this month, marking the beginning of the company’s national expansion plans.  The new 6,041-square-foot studio will accommodate 120 members per cycle, with a maximum of 30 members per individual class.

With a no-excuses approach, 54D’s signature 54-day program features high intensity group training, nutrition, recovery and community. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, 54D has received global acclaim after founder and former professional soccer player Rodrigo Garduño took to Instagram amid pandemic lockdowns and motivated hundreds of thousands of people around the world to stay positive and healthy.

“We have always been a catalyst of transformation. We conceive techniques to train the mind and body and prepare our community (or participants) to break limits to achieve results,” said Garduño, founder and creator of 54D. “Our expansion in New York City seemed like the perfect position to continue the brand's evolution, following our vision to make this program accessible to more people. 54D in New York City will introduce people to the new version of themselves.”

Besides its physical locations, the brand also exploded digitally in over 90 countries with 54D ON, the online version of the brand’s signature 54-day program that offers a state-of-the-art at-home workout experience, and, earlier this year, launched an Amazon Alexa Skill, where users are able to access quick workouts and get inspiration directly from the brand’s founder.

“Since we started offering our online program, we have had so much interest from various markets to bring our on-site program to them,” said Omar Yunes, CEO of 54D. “People want to experience immersive, in-person training. It’s a program unlike any other. We are proud to begin our national expansion and give people the opportunity to try the program on-site. We felt New York City was the perfect place to kick off our expansion and are excited to open our doors this fall.”

The New York City studio will be located at 125 W. 25th Street. 54D currently has multiple studios in Miami, Mexico, Colombia, and is slated to open in Los Angeles and Broward County in 2023. For more information, visit www.54d.com.

Unveiling a safe, welcoming space that celebrates community, kindness, authenticity, inclusivity, and a sense of lightness is Ghandour’s longtime dream brought to life. “I am honored to have cultivated a global community that allows like-minded people to connect with one another from around the world,” she says. “I wanted to create a physical space that will serve as a home for this community and for anyone seeking true connection, both on and off the mat.”

When entering Mimi Yoga Studio, guests are embraced by an oversized, white oak archway, a design theme that carries throughout the studio. Behind the frosted glass doors leading to the practice room, an immediate sense of serenity washes over. Before even stepping onto their mat, aquamarine travertine floors and ombre, ocean blue walls lull yogis into a sea of tranquility, allowing them to ‘go deep’ – deep into practice, deep into breath, deep into self. A warm glow from LED-illuminated mirrors enhances the depth of connection.

The studio is equipped with storage lockers to safely store belongings, open cubbies for students to store their shoes, as well as a shower for those who need to quickly freshen up post-class. Mats, towels, blocks and ankle weights will be available. An array of merchandise by rotating local artists and women-owned businesses will be available at the studio’s store.

Known for her signature power flows, enchanting mantras, and positive, infectious energy, Mimi will lead classes, teacher trainings and workshops in the studio. With multiple classes held throughout the day, seven days per week, she has also curated a lineup of several, sought-after Miami instructors who each bring their unique expertise to the Mimi Yoga Studio. Classes are designed for students of all levels and include power vinyasa, vinyasa flow, and restorative. Students will seal their practice with a complimentary cold, rose essential oil-infused towel placed gently on their foreheads during final resting pose, savasana.

The studio will also serve as home to Mimi’s Yoga Alliance-certified, 200-Hour Mimi Yoga Teacher Training program. Mimi has certified 170 yoga students both in-person and online since her first teacher training in 2021. Her sixth, 10-week yoga teacher training began October 3.

Outside of a Dick's Sporting Goods Store in Miami, Florida

Peloton Will Sell Bikes, Treads at Dick’s Sporting Goods

Peloton is going to start selling its bikes, treadmills and other products in Dick’s Sporting Goods locations. While there is no launch date yet, they are aiming to have Peloton products in more than 100 Dick’s stores in time for the holiday shopping season.

The collaboration will make Dick’s the first brick-and-mortar retailer outside of its namesake stores to carry Peloton equipment. Peloton had long been an exclusively direct-to-consumer business before it began selling its products on Amazon in August.

Dick’s will carry Peloton’s Bike, Bike+, Tread, and Guide, as well as bike shoes and exercise mats, the companies announced last week.

“This partnership [with Dick’s] is a natural fit for our brand and our Member acquisition goals,” said Jen Parker, Peloton’s senior vice president of global direct sales.
